From
the last week of September to the end of November the weather on the
Coigach
can be the best of the year. Gradually over the weeks summer changes
into
autumn and into winter. Around the Lochs Bad a'Ghaill and Lurgainn,
past
Stac Pollaidh into the National Nature Reserve of Inverpolly and along
the coast through Inverkirkaig to Lochinver the colours change. The
show
offered by the heather and the mix of coniferous and deciduous trees
rivals
anything that the Fall in New England in the USA and eastern Canada can
offer.
It is also a time when the weather on our peninsula can be surprisingly kind. In early October there is often an Indian Summer. Through October the Gulf Stream is still comparatively warm. In early November the surrounding hills protect us from the worst of the colder winds from the east and north. A quiet few days to wander the hills or cycle the back-roads can be grabbed before winter sets in fully. We offer special 3- and 4- and 5-night packages for the period from the last Monday in September until the end of November. Prices are shown to the left. To book, first check availability by clicking below then double-check by contacting me, Ian Campbell Whittle, by 'phone on (44) (0) 1854-622448 or by e-mail on tilleadh@aol.com . Once availability is confirmed, you can then choose your method of payment, by cheque or bank transfer. |
